1 Reformation Newspaper Project

2 Goals The goals of this project include all of the following:
For all of you to examine in-depth the events of the Reformation in a European nation of your choice To understand the cause and effect relationships throughout Europe during this time For all of you to experience the process of newspaper production.

3 Role As an elite team of Reformation Era newspaper reporters, you and your colleagues have been chosen by the Editor-n-Chief (Mr. Meester) of a leading European newspaper to produce a special “Era in Review” edition.

4 Audience The audience for your newspaper is a combination of the nobility and the educated upper-middle class citizens of your nation. Since you are writing to a very educated audience, your stories must reflect a high degree of analytical excellence.

5 Product This newspaper is due October 1st.
You will be given a city from which to produce your newspaper. These will be assigned by the Editor-n-Chief. Whichever city you are assigned, that city and its nation will be the one which you must use as the basis for your national news and local news stories. London, Paris, Wittenberg, Rome, Geneva, & Madrid Additionally you should keep this nation’s Point of View on issues in mind when writing you stories.

6 Requirements This newspaper must contain the following elements:
An appropriate Reformation-style banner 4 national news stories 4 international news stories 3 local news stories 3 political cartoons 4 advertisements (must be for Reformation products) 2 Letters to the editor Entertainment section (one-half page minimum) Classified section (one-half page minimum)

7 Standard for Success Newspapers will be graded on the following elements: Is the paper complete? Are the stories, cartoons, etc. of excellent quality? Are all of the elements of the paper historically accurate? Was the newspaper completed on time? Does the grammar, etc. enhance or detract from the overall quality of the newspaper.
