CHALK TALK DIRECTIONS: Chalk Talk is simple. The #1 rule is no talking. You “talk” with the “chalk.” Login to your class’ padlet (specific web address and password will be at your table) & take turns silently typing what you learned about Shakespeare into the padlet. When you finish, give the computer to another student in your group to add more answers or supporting details. Once everyone in the group has gone, you can go a second time if you wish/have time. It is like a silent form of a class discussion.

Station 2: Poetry Comparison
GROUP WORK DIRECTIONS: Re-read each poem (as necessary) to help you answer the questions. “The Song of Wandering Aengus” is on p. 72 and “Sonnet 43” is on p. 74 of the Collections textbook. On a separate piece of paper, as group, complete each of the following: Summarize each stanza of “Sonnet 43.” Reread lines 13-14, identify examples of paradox from these lines and explain how they deepen the poem’s meaning? Reread both poems, what is the rhyme scheme of the Yeats poem and how does it differ from the rhyme scheme of “Sonnet 43”? Reread the final couplet of “Sonnet 43.” Restate its message in your own words. Reread each poem, explain what qualities does the meter contribute to each poem? Refer to p. 75 to help define meter. An alternate phrasing of this question comes from p. 76, Analyzing the Text Question #3.
