Metro Rate provides a reduction in tuition for students residing in out-of- state neighboring counties Ohio- Counties west to Columbus, north to Cleveland Pennsylvania- Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene, Washington, Westmoreland Maryland- Allegany, Frederick, Garrett, Montgomery, Washington Virginia- Clarke, Frederick, Loudoun, Shenandoah, Warren

WLU Scholars Program Four Year Scholarship Program for Students with a 3.75 GPA or higher and at least a 22 ACT (1020 SAT Critical Reading + Math) Elbin Scholars 27 or higher ACT (1220 SAT) $4,000 In-state $12,000 Out-of-state/Metro **Elbin Scholars with a 4.00 GPA (unweighted) and a 30 ACT (1340 SAT) or higher Composite Score will receive full scholarship to cover tuition, mandatory fees, room and board.

Where does Financial Aid come from? US Department of Education State Higher Education Agencies Institutions Third Parties, such as: private foundations, banks, civic organizations, etc.

How Do I Apply for Aid? The FAFSA- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.fafsa.gov) must be completed: Federal and State Grants (Pell, SEOG, TEACH, WVHEG, PHEAA) Federal Loans Federal Work Study (WLU has an additional application for Federal Work Study) **Some state agencies may require additional paperwork

General Eligibility for Federal Aid Must be enrolled for enrollment in an eligible program of study Must be pursuing degree, certificate or other recognized credential Must be a US Citizen or eligible non-citizen Must be registered with Selective Service (if male, required) Institutions, states and third parties may set additional criteria

Deadlines for Financial Aid WLU FAFSA Priority Deadline: April 15 WLU Scholarships: awarded on a rolling basis for accepted students Early awards to Scholars during 1 st week of November Students must be accepted to WLU by June 15 in order to be eligible for scholarships for following academic year

Processing Update Tracking Letters being mailed on a weekly basis informing student of additional documentation needed before aid can be processed Financial Aid Estimate Letters currently being mailed on a weekly basis indicating awarded aid Aid is based on estimated costs for 2012-13 Student required to sign and return one copy

Processing Update (cont’d) In May, WV Higher Education Grant and PROMISE Scholarship notifications issued to students Final award letters will be available in July after registration and final costs determined Special Circumstances can be completed if a student/parents experience a substantial change in finances

Admissions Requirements High School Graduates 2.00 Grade Point Average Minimum of 18 ACT or 870 SAT Curricular Requirements 4 Units English 4 Units Math (3 must be Algebra I or higher) 3 Social Studies (including US History) 3 Lab Sciences 2 Units of Foreign Language in the same discipline 1 Fine Arts

The Final Steps… March/April/May - Financial Aid Estimate Letters being issued March- Pre-registration and Orientation information issued to students June- Orientation begins June- Housing assignments issued to students July- Official Financial Aid Award Letters issued July- Billing statements emailed from Business Office August 23- Residence Halls open for new students August 26- Fall Classes begin at 9:00 a.m.
