Spur Gear Simplest type of gear Teeth project radially
Teeth only mesh if fitted to parallel shafts

Worm Gear Resembles a screw
Can achieve a high torque, low gear speed ratio Can have 1 tooth (one band along entire gear) Mesh w/ spur or helical

Crown Gear Also called a “contrate gear”
Teeth project at right angles from face Type of bevel gear Can mesh with other bevel or sometimes spur gears

Rotary to Linear Motion
Objective is to make a rotating motor cause a platform or a rod to move laterally Can be achieved with a crown gear, a spur gear, and a worm gear Worm Spur Crown Motor
