Two new Cognos cost share reports Why are they a good thing?
GM093 & GM094 Two new Cognos cost share reports Why are they a good thing? Many centers manage projects with cost share from different departments These reports aggregate all the commitment, journals, and expense data Should eliminate finding the data from multiple GL069s & NUFinancials Thanks to Keith Adams, Systems Analyst in NUIT for developing the reports Good morning everyone, I wanted to show you 2 new canned cost share reports available in Cognos that pulls together cost share data in a way that before was only accessible by running multiple GL069s and in NUFinancials. For this example, I am using the ICEP project in Catalysis that’s about 12 year old. The reports were developed by Keith Adams in IT and a larger work group with representatives from across campus, Weinberg, McCormick, and the centers.

Cognos Cost Share Reports
Located in the Cognos Sponsored Programs folder GM093 Cost Share Commitment Status Presents revenue & expense data from NUFinancials Multi-year view of budget, revenue and expense (i.e. Available elsewhere only on single fiscal year basis) Provides comprehensive view of all departments committing cost share funds to project The GM093 is the cost share commitment status, the best thing about this is that it can be run from inception to date, or across 2 NU fiscal years which may be a single project period on your award. A GL069 can only be run for one fiscal year. When run with out a department ID, it pulls all commitments from across the university for a single project. If it’s run with a department ID then if that department isn’t contributing cost share, then the report will be blank. The GM094 provides details on budget journals entered by OSR that establish the commitment and actuals journals that fulfill the commitment. GM094 Cost Share Journal Details Detail on budget journals used to establish revenue budgets for departments contributing to cost share Detail on actuals journals of transfers made to support the budgeted commitment It may be run independently or via a drill from the GM093

GM093 Input Leave Department ID blank Select dates Search either by:
(GM093 and GM094) Select dates (NU FY or project year) Search either by: Award number (SP/CNVR) Project ID Leaving Dept ID blank will pull data from all sources, not just one department. Dates could match award periods (that don’t fall to NU FY). Search by award number or Project ID to get to the project.

GM093 Output Commitment fulfilled Commitment open Balance here = $54, is only for FY16. Ending balance FY 2015 = $3, Total = $57,601.54, which is that balance on the GM045. I ran the GM093 inception to date for ICEP and the expense balance is the cash balance in the chartstring. This is only FY16 funds, not any carry forward from previous FY Only Dept ID column on GM093, on GM094, there is also a Dept name column

Initially, it took me a little time to go through these and double check a lot of the numbers for accuracy, but they make available a much more comprehensive picture of the cost share status of a specific project and they’re live and available in Cognos. This journal was an error that was corrected. In this case . . . There’s one open commitment
