2. What I am doing?
I chose two different typed photographers. The first one is acclaimed to be an humanitarian portrait photographer, her name is Lisa Kristine. The second photographer I chose was an documentary photographer and photojournalist, her name was Dorothea Lange.
Choosing these photographers, inspired me to want to create my own style of photography that replicates their own but, with a small twist.
Dorothea took one portrait picture that was documented within a war, and I wanted to replicate that photo of a complete opposite genre to war.

3. Lisa Kristine
Lisa is acclaimed to be an American humanitarian portrait photographer. Her photography over a 30-year career has documented indigenous cultures and social causes.
Lisa’s purpose-driven interactions with diverse cultures, her passionate sensitivity about the condition helps us realise that the world today isn’t all good, and her finely –tuned craft produces truthful, profound images of the beauty of suffering.

4. Lisa Kristine’s Photograph
I chose this photograph as the colour and contrast caught my attention to the image.
The depth of this photograph, questions the audience on ‘whose hands are they’ or even ‘How has this person suffered’. It creates this outlook of a suggested story; I liked this image as it created those questions in my mind which really intrigued me. Frankly made like Lisa’s Art. The colour exaggerates the suffering that person is having; by the dis-colour of the natural hands and also the red blushes shows this person has been over worked.

5. First Photograph ~ Inspired By Lisa Kristine.
This photograph was inspired by Lisa Kristine. For her work she showed slavery around the world by either showing peoples hands or even portraits of children, men or women showing their sad faces of needing help. Lisa inspired me to take a photograph of an ordinary hard working man, to show the contrast between slavery and normal work.
I used Photoshop to exaggerate and expose the hands and also the jacket in he background. I wanted the main focus on the hands; I used the flash on the camera and focused on the hands so the background would be out of focus. Also using Photoshop I used the burn tool to ‘burn’ the arms so they are more shadowed; which to me exaggerates the exposure of the hands and makes them stand out more.
I wanted to replicate my style of photography that was inspired by Lisa; showing the opposites of normal work and slavery.

6. Dorothea Lange
Dorothea was an American documentary photographer and photojournalist, best known for her depression-era work for the Farm Security Administration (FSA). Lange’s photographs humanized the consequences of the Great depression and influenced the development of a documentary within photography. She was educated in photography at Columbia University in New York City.

7. Dorothea Lange’s Photograph
I chose this photograph as the black and white image showed the emotion within the photo extremely well. The black and white picture exaggerate a depth of a story within the photograph; the story made me think of how and why the people look sad. I liked this photograph because it instantly grabbed my attention to the photograph making me over think why are they getting treated that way?

8. Second Photograph ~ Opposite interpretation of Dorothea’s Photography.
I took this photograph as its inspired me from Dorothea Lange’s photography. I wanted to take a completely opposite picture to Dorothea style; as I wanted to compare the different classes around the world, today. Dorothea’s work is shown with poor women and child struggling the consequences of the world poverty around 1930’s. It inspired me to compare the differences of the world being more happy and having no daily life struggles of poverty.
I didn’t edit the photograph, as I thought by itself it was effective to show an upper class look. The bright colours show the happiness between the mother and daughter. Thinking of changing the picture to black and white, told me that the picture wouldn’t be as effective in showing bright, outstanding pictures; as I know most black and white pictures show low key lighting and a depressing mood, and with this photograph I did not want to change the mood/tone.

9. Conclusion.
In conclusion, I liked researching on different photographers and also learning new styles of photography. I enjoyed the challenge of recreating the images that I had chosen; re creating the images oppositely to the original, made me feel as I thought about the images more and made me feels as if I put enough work into this project.
Overall, for this project I am happy for what I’ve done. Areas that I can improve on; is that I should take more images so I have more of a selection of images to chose from. But, also this project helped improve my photography skills and researching skills.
