2. What is Cannabis?
Cannabis is a drug that is primarily known as Marijuana but has many names.
It is the part of the plant that is intended for use, from the Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica forma sativa, and Cannabis ruderalis Plants
Cannabis is a Schedule 1 drug (highest classification in DEA)

3. Legalities
Cannabis is Classified as a Schedule 1 drug by the federal government. It is in the same classification as heroin, cocaine, and crack cocaine.
There are 32 states that have legalized it for medicinal use and 4 states that have legalized it for recreational use also. Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington.
There have been attempts to decriminalize it, which has seen some success.
It is still prohibited in some states.

4. Adverse Effects on Lungs
Cannabis smoke has tar similar to that of tobacco, and has twice the quantity of tar that tobacco smoke does.
Cancer is at a higher risk of development in the lungs due to this, there are over 50 known carcinogens in the smoke.
Since 2015 there has not been a consensus whether heavy smoking adds to the risk or whether light moderate use does so too.

5. Adverse Neurological Effects
Imaging studies of the brain have indicated morphological changes with long term cannabis use.
Resting blood flow is lower in prefrontal areas of the brain in cannabis users, in comparison to non-users.
It was also shown that cannabis when used increased blood flow to those same areas.
There has been neuroanatomic alterations within regions of the brain with high cannabinoid receptors; hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, amygdala, and cerebellum.

6. Proven Medicinal Properties
Studies and extensive research have shown that cannabis treats nausea and vomiting, pain, neurological problems.
It is used primarily to treat chemo-therapy patients for nausea and vomiting, due to the treatment causing it.
It has shown that cannabis treats pain, even neropathy. It treats fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis.
Cannabis can treat neurological problems such as multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy.

7. Possible Medicinal Properties
Cannabis can in theory treat two ailments, those being HIV/AIDs and post traumatic stress disorder(PTSD). HIV/AIDs and PTSD have shown some effect to being treated by cannabis, but extensive research has not been done to prove or disprove this claim. AIDs patients suffering from anorexia, have shown some positive correlation with increased appetite, but extensive research has not been conducted yet.

8. THC Compared to CBD
THC is the psychoactive drug in cannabis, it is the part that gets you high. The medicinal effects of THC are pain, nausea/vomiting, appetite stimulant, and sleep aid.
CBD is another drug found in Cannabis, it is not a psychoactive drug meaning it does not cause a high. It unlike THC is not regulated as strictly. It is used to treat neurological problems, anxiety, and is an anti-psychotic.
