Reading Project: A Lapbook

What’s a lapbook? A lap book generally consists of a paperboard folder such as a file folder with small pieces of folded paper glued inside. These folded papers may contain facts, diagrams, illustrations, etc. related to a subject. Lapbooks can be adapted for any subject and grade level.

Instructions to make your lapbook
Let’s watch some videos that can help you to understand the way you can work on a lapbook. You have to be creative so that you use different ways to present the information about the story you are reading in class.

Pair Work Every class you have to read two chapters of the book and work on the required activities. Before Reading Activities: October 2nd Activity 1: Go to the internet and find information about Charles Bravo and his mysterious death. A. Present his biography in a very creative way. B. Make a list of 7 important events they mention about his death. Activity 2: Go to page 68, read the information about the author of the book. Make a summary of his life. You must include when, where he was born, his family and three famous books he has written.

While Reading Activitites: October 16th
Activity 1: Read chapter 1, “A True Story” and write quotes representing what people said when they knew that Charles Bravo was dead. Remember to use a creative to present those quotes Examples:

Read chapter 2, Florence Bravo’s story (Part 1)
Create a crossword puzzle with six important facts that Florence mentions in her story. Example:

Read Chapter 3: “Dr James Gully’s story” (Part 1)
Make a comparison between Florence and Dr Gully’s versions of their first part of the story.

Read Chapters 4 and 5 Write three short dialogues representing the following conversations: Florence and Jane Cox talking about Dr Gully Dr Gully and Jane Cox talking about Florence Dr Gully and Charles Bravo talking about Florence

Read chapters 6 and 7 Make a summary of Jane Cox’s story or make a list of the most important events in this part of the story.

Read chapter 8: “Florencence Bravo’s story” , Part 3
Describe Charles accident and the way he felt before going to bed.

Read Chapter 9: “What the maid saw”
Create a comic strip to represent this part of the story.

Read chapter 10: “What the doctors saw”
Describe what each doctor saw, did or thought when they went to see Charles in April. Use the pictures in the book to help you: Dr Moore and Dr Harrison Dr Royes Bell and Dr George Johnson Dr William Gull

Read chapter 11: “The Mystery”
In your own words explain the end of this story and the reasons the suspects had to kill Charles Bravo.
