Interesting video about Afghanistan
This is a video about how an archeologist found lots of gold in Afghanistan and other things that happened to him. I chose this video because it shows that the place has lots of treasures and should be taken care of. I also chose it because it has to do with our last unit, archeology.

Afghanistan’s economy
The Afghan economy relies a lot on it’s opium production so they can produce cocaine. This is not very good because it encourages people to become drug dealers an sell drugs. Most of the other people rely on farming crops. Only 12 % of the land is suitable for farming and 6% of it is cultivated. But where there is space there is also a lot of good soil.

Afghanistan schools Afghanistan has had a lot of trouble with girls going to school because the Taliban said they weren’t allowed to attend. But now since the Taliban have left, there are always more girls going to school. Women’s rights were very limited under the Taliban. Things they could not do: They could not drive They had to have something covering their whole body, apart from their hands They could not go out of the house without a male relative They also did not get to choose who they marry Since the Taliban are gone, women have more rights.

Afghanistan cultural festivals
Nau Roz is a new year’s festival. It is also the best known festival in Afghanistan, specially in a place called Mazar e Sharif, where it is called Gul e Sorkh. Sport matches called buzkashi are held. People play music and dance. Eid e Fitr is a festival held sometime between October and December and happens after a long month of fasting called Ramadan. In Eid e Fitr people wear new clothes and eat sweet food. They also go and pray at a mosque for a long time.
