The NASA Climate Change, Coastal Ocean Color, and Phytoplankton Exhibit
The NASA Climate Change, Coastal Ocean Color, and Phytoplankton Exhibit has made its way from the NASA Wallops Flight Facility in Wallops Island, Virginia to the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Visitors Center in Greenbelt. The exhibit consists of a Lite-Brite art piece of the Chesapeake Bay and Mid-Atlantic Bight Region, five light boxes and global ocean color banners that highlight the importance of studying climate change from space, with a focus on ocean color and phytoplankton as indicators of climate change. The exhibit highlights the nature of global warming from a synoptic perspective all the way down to a microscopic perspective. The exhibit was previously on display at the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia for one year. This exhibit was designed and developed by Brian A. Campbell, Sigma Space Corporation in Code 610 and Dr. Tiffany A. Moissan, Code 610.W, as part of a winning NASA GSFC IRAD Education proposal.
