Violence is a global phenomenon
Violence is a global phenomenon. More than a million people die each year as a result of self-inflicted, interpersonal or collective violence.

World Health Organization Defination
“The intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person, or against a group or community, that either results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, maldevelopment or deprivation.”

Youth violence Around the globe, every year almost a quarter of a million people under the age of 30 are murdered. Worldwide some homicides occur among youth 10– 29 years of age each year, which is 43% of the total number of homicides globally each year. Homicide is the fourth leading cause of death in people aged years, and 83% of these homicides involve male victims. Youth violence greatly increases the costs of health, welfare and criminal justice services; reduces productivity; and decreases the value of property.

WHO response WHO and partners decrease youth violence through initiatives that help to identify, quantify and respond to the problem, these include: developing a package for schools-based violence prevention programmes; drawing attention to the magnitude of youth violence and the need for prevention; developing guidance for Member States and all relevant sectors to prevent youth violence and strengthen responses to it; supporting national efforts to prevent youth violence; and collaborating with international agencies and organizations to prevent youth violence globally.

What About Turkey ? Turkey has 19 millions young population out of 76 millions. This is the highest rate of young people in Europe with 25%. 41.1% of Turkish population is young and children. The list of regions about violence against children :42.2 % South East Anadolu Region has first place, the following with 26.7 % Black Sea Region, with 24.4% Marmara Region.Least physical violence showed up in Ege region with 11.8%.* * According to Prof. Dr. Eda Kargı’s “ Violence at Family’s and Children’s Behaviours ‘’ resarch

What is Turkis Government Doing Against Violence?
For Stronger Tomorrows – Famous Sportsman’s Performing of the Composition by the Ministery : Famous stars of Turkish sports gathered for a video clip which is shooted as a public service advertisement prepared by the ministery to create awareness against the violence on sports.

Turkish football Arda Turan and Emre Belözoğlu, famous footballers like Semih Kaya,İbrahim Toroman, Tolga Zengin, Mehmet Topal also took part in the videoclip which showed everyone the connective part of sport and friendship. Furthermore, Karate player Şeyda Burucu, Gymnast Göksu Üçtaş, Wrestler Rıza Kayaalp, Mountaineer Tunç Fındık, Underwater Sportswoman Şahika Ercümen and most of famous performed song together.
