October 4th GRADE News! Read All About It Important Dates Sneak Peek:
Math Multiply with Two-Digit Numbers Reading Big Wave and Government Writing Figurative Language: Similes, Onomatopoeia, Idioms, Metaphors, and Personification Science Science Fair Projects (Electricity, Magnetism, and Scientific Method) Math Practice: We have learned several two-digit by one-digit multiplication strategies this past quarter that we will continue to use throughout the entire year. All of these strategies rely on a strong base knowledge of multiplication facts up to 12. Please continue to practice nightly at home as we get ready to begin practicing two-digit by two-digit multiplication this next quarter! Looking ahead with AR: Remember that with each new quarter, students will have a new AR goal. Student ranges will be given out within the first couple of weeks of quarter 2. Please make sure your child continues to read at home to achieve the due dates below: Quarter 2 AR book project due: Monday, December 4th Quarter 2 AR goals due: Friday, December 15th Important!! We are in search of some supplies for our Fall Celebration! We are looking for jelly pumpkins, tooth picks, bags of individually wrapped candy, treat bags, napkins, straws, spoons, plastic cups, sprite, and plain sugar cookies. The jelly pumpkins are usually found at Hobby Lobby, and are pictured below. Important Dates 9/25: Color Day – 4th Grade wears blue! 9/26: Dress Your Best Day! (School Pictures) 9/27: Work Out Day 9/28: Camouflage Day 9/29: Riggs Spirit Day 10/2 – 10/17: Fall Break (No School) 10/20: Relay for Life Fundraiser - $1 10/30 – 11/6: Riggs Book Fair (Library)
