2 Scenario 1 Peter is a shy, quiet fourth grader who wears the same few outfits every day. When Kelly notices this, she asks her friend why he wears the same few outfits. Lauren responds, “He doesn’t know that you shouldn’t wear the same thing over and over again. It’s not cool. He has no sense of style.” “Oh,” said Kelly. Peter’s mother is a single parent and he has twin sisters in kindergarten. Peter’s mother works two jobs and cannot buy many clothes for her three children. Neither Lauren or Kelly understand this and think Peter just doesn’t know how to dress himself. What could they do instead? How might Peter feel?

3 Scenario 2 Last year, Miss Norman asked her class to work in groups for a science project. As the groups were beginning to work, Jonathan overheard Adam, a kid in his group, tell his friend that he didn’t want to work with Blake because he didn’t learn as fast as everyone else and wouldn’t contribute anything to the group. What could Jonathan have told Adam? Was it right for Adam to say this?

4 Scenario 3 Becca and Sarah are playing at recess when they notice Melissa, a first grader, get angry and hit Logan. Melissa then tells Logan, “You can’t play with me because you’re a boy.” Is this fair? What could Melissa have done instead?

5 Scenario 4 Ella is talking to her friend Jessica at lunch. Jessica is saying mean things about the new kid because he looks and sounds different than everyone else and how angry she is that her teacher paired them for an assignment. What could Ella tell Jessica?

6 Scenario 5 Omar’s mother is chaperoning a class field trip. Joshua asks Omar why his mother wears different clothes than other mothers. Omar follows a different religion than the rest of his class and loves where he comes from. What could Omar tell Joshua?
