5. What is a cell?
A cell is the smallest unit of organisms that carry on the functions of life
Parts : nucleus, cell membrane , organelles, cytoplasm
Unicellular – one cell
Multicellular – many cells
Specialization- to have special functions

Carries the genetic code and instructions for all functions
Proteins, Carbohydrates,
Fats & Oils, Water, Oxygen, Carbon dioxide,
Water ~ 70% of the body mass

Make new organisms, offspring, like themselves
2 types of reproduction:
Asexual – A single parent
Sexual – Two parents

Growth -
Unicellular organisms – cell gets larger
Multicellular organisms – number of cells increase
Development – Organism grows and passes through different stages of maturity
