I-Search Vision Board

A What is a vision board? It is simply a visual representation or collage of the things that you want to have, be, or do in your life. It consists of a poster or, in our case, a paper with cut-out pictures, drawings and/or writing on it of the things that you want in your life or the things that you want to become.

What is a vision board? Creating a vision board is a fun and creative way for you to become clear on your dreams and desires and transform them into reality. We often become what we choose to think about. By putting your attention on what you want to bring into your life, you can stay focused on what may keep you motivated to keep working hard.

Instructions: Create a list of the kinds of images you would like to include on your vision board. All of the following categories should be represented. Emotions (what do you want to feel?) Relationships (who do you want to have close relationships with?) Education (what education do you see yourself pursuing?) Required Skills (what skills would you need to do your work, hobbies?) Work (what work do you see yourself doing for a living?)

Lifestyle (how much money do you want to have)
Instructions: Location (where do you see yourself living –both city/town, type of dwelling?) Recreational Activities (what would you like to do in your spare time?) Lifestyle (how much money do you want to have) Select approximately images that best illustrate your above goals or dreams Find or create text to describe images, thoughts or feelings. 7 Finalizing Steps: Make envelope to put cut-out pictures in. You must store them in your backpack somehow. Place your name on the outside of homemade envelope, so if it gets left behind, I can return it to you. Look through magazines and find words and pictures that match your lists. Narrow your pictures down to 15 – 20. Three-hole punch your card stock. If you don’t want the background color to show through, cover the peek-a-boo spaces with construction paper (please use scraps, not whole sheets). Arrange pictures on paper (you may use the front and back), but don’t glue until you are committed to the look – you want words or captions to label the goals Write a one-page (complete front side minimum, typed, MLA format) reflection of what is presented on your page.
