Learn to Trade Like a Pro
2
So you want to be a professional trader??
Try to answer the following questions. 1. Have you traded before? 2. Why did you trade? 3. Were you satisfied with your trading? If you were not satisfied, what was the reason?
3
Remember, For every successful trader in the market, there are ten others who have failed Why does market work? Market works because these unsuccessful traders are supplying money to the markets
4
Think Honestly… Are you the one who is supplying money to the markets?
Do you want to continue doing so, or you want to be on the other side hereafter? How can you make money?
5
What needs to be changed?
Your old strategies have not worked for you Most of the times, you were a seller when you should have bought and you were buying when it was time to sell The flaw is here. Your emotions are too strong and you are not able to overcome them
6
The ‘I think so’ factor…
It is the most loss making thing in the markets Almost always ‘I think so…’ is responsible for huge losses Whatever you have earned earlier gets wiped out in this one emotional trade Does this happen with you??
7
How can this be reversed?
This can be reversed only if you are properly trained to be objective You should know how to put the progressive steps in the market You should be aware of the pitfalls You should know yourself- strengths and weaknesses Your trading should be based on that Trading strategies that are not in line with your personality will seldom make money for you
8
What goes wrong??? Traders are not aware of their emotions
They do not know what type of trades they should take and what type they should avoid Naturally they try to trade what they think to be profitable Invariably they end up into losses Trading strategies are rarely wrong, however, every strategy does not work for different people with different mind-sets
9
Know yourself first The first and the most important step is you should know what type of trader you are You should know which market would be the most suited for your personality You should know what should be avoided and what should be done Build your strategy accordingly Practice your strategy, build the confidence and then start trading
10
How to know yourself? It is very difficult to know your own self
Usually this is better done by another person We do not always know our strengths and weaknesses Another person may quickly find out strengths and weaknesses in us, but we may take a long time to do so Remember, you can see easily what is in front of you. Not what is within you
11
To be a successful trader, you will need-
1. Knowledge of Technical Analysis. Not just as in books but what actually works and what does not work any longer in markets 2. A good trading plan. This will have to be developed based on your personality 3. Method to control your emotions. A good trading plan may not get followed if a person is unable to control his emotions 4. Efficient Money Management. Without money management, you will never sustain in the markets Only a professional can mentor you properly.
12
Do I really need a mentor?
Just think of any professional. Do you think he can be successful without a proper coach? Remember, trading is being done by professionals as well as amateurs, and who are you in trading??? Still an amateur What is the chance for an amateur to compete against the professionals and win? And not just once- Day after day? If you want to tilt the balance in you favour, seek help from a professional who can mentor you properly
13
Just think for a moment…
You can play a game without mentoring, but can you be an expert in it without proper guidance? Think of international sportsmen. How many of them do not have a coach? Think of successful businessmen. How many did so without a mentor? It is not impossible to do certain things without a mentor, but a mentor makes the process much faster. He will also help you avoiding wrong direction, which can otherwise be very expensive
14
How to find a Good Mentor
Look for a person who is really knowledgeable He should have good ability to teach He should have good experience in trading There are some self declared mentors, who do not trade themselves. Beware of such people. They have themselves failed to tolerate pressure. Can they teach others to do so?
15
Good mentors do not come cheap
Yes, I agree. None of the specialists do However, good mentors will help you save much more Good mentor will take you to actual profitable trading methods much faster than self learning Think of the fees paid to the good mentor as a good investment. It will give you returns faster and at a higher rate of return In trading we always talk of risk reward ratio. This ratio is the best when you are working with a professional
16
Fill up the following checklist before finalising on a mentor
1. Does he have any formal qualification in technical analysis 2. Is he a teacher? Does he have experience in teaching? 3. Does he have any experience in mentoring 4. Is he himself a trader? Only if answers to all these questions is YES, then there is any point in going ahead.
17
Where can I find such a mentor?
You can just search for the name of mentor on the Internet, you will find a large number of mentors. Go to the websites of individual mentors and try to find the answers to the four questions asked If answers to all questions is YES, just try to find out why is the person mentoring If the answer is failure in trading, do not consider him to be your mentor. If he cannot earn for himself, how can he teach you? Go for the mentor who is himself a trader
18
Think about this. . . . Think what would be wiser?
Trading your own or getting properly and professionally mentored Which is likely to be more expensive???
19
Thought on it? Definitely a mentor will prove much better for you
