Key structural elements of p53 DNA binding. Based on the crystal structure in Cho et al.295 L, LH, and LSH indicate loop, loop-helix, and loop-sheet-helix, respectively. Residues are indicated in single letter code and DNA contacts are indicated by arrows. For simplicity, only one strand is shown with arrows pointing to bases indicating a base contact and arrows pointing between bases indicating contacts to sugar or phosphate groups.
