4 Snakes There are many types of snakes in Vietnam.
Soldiers would say “there are 100 types of snakes in vietnam, 99 are poisonous and the last one will crush you to death.” The most common snakes were cobras, malayan pit viper, bamboo viper, and the kraits. The kraits and the green tree viper were nicknamed the two step charlie because you could take two steps and then you were dead. J.B.

7 Leeches Leeches would attach themselves to exposed areas when soldiers would walk through swamps. Common ways that soldiers would get rid of leeches would be with lit cigarettes or a very powerful bug repellant. E.C.

8 Dysentery -illness which causes inflammation of the intestines and bloody diarrhea -dehydration as a result -caused by bacterial infections, viral infections or parasitic infestations E.C.

9 Dehydration -dehydration prevention is one of the most effective methods to stop heat illness in the military. -Soldiers carry around more than 80 pounds in over 100 degree weather and can’t stop to cool down and recover. -Performance declines when dehydration kicks in. -Dehydration can cause muscle spasms, confusion and heat stroke.
