Attendance It is very important to be at school in order to receive your education. Only a parent or guardian may clear an absence. Students must be in attendance during the day of any school event in order to participate. This includes, but is not limited to sports tryouts, games, dances, music performances, and other school activities. Students must attend 90% of the month to earn Fun Friday!

Tardy Policy Students are allowed ample time to pass from one class to another It is important to arrive to class on time to not miss instruction and to model the characteristics of PRIDE Tardy Policy 1st/ 2nd – Warning 3rd/ 4th – Teacher intervention/phone call home 5 or more – Notification to Assistant Principal for disciplinary action. Must be on time 90 % of the time throughout the month or no Fun Friday!

Academic Eligibility/ Citizenship Marks
A student who receives two or more unsatisfactory citizenship marks within the same grading period may be ineligible for participating in extra curricular activities. Student/Athletes must also maintain a minimum rubric average of 2.3 during each six-week grading period. Five or more unexcused tardies may result in an unsatisfactory classroom citizenship marks. All students must have a 2.3 or higher in all of their classes to be eligible for Fun Friday

Theft Prevention To minimize the possibility of loss or theft, it is important to be responsible with your belongings. Don’t leave personal belonging unsupervised, leave valuable items at home, and report missing items to an adult as soon as possible. If the theft occurs in a classroom, the student should ask the teacher for help immediately and fill out a theft report. If the theft occurs outside the classroom, the student should report to the administration office to fill out a report.

Electronic Device Electronic devices shall be turned off during the regular school day. Should the following rule be violated the following consequences shall apply. 1st Offense: Student directed to turn off phone and put it away 2nd Offense: Device will be confiscated and turned into the office. Parents notified 3rd Device will be confiscated and turned into the office. Parents notified to pick up phone. Conference held. 4th Device will be confiscated and turned into the office. Parents notified to pick up phone. Student assigned Saturday School

Lost/Misplaced/Unauthorized Items
Students are responsible for the care and use of their own personal belongings. Lost, misplaced and unauthorized personal items will not be the responsibility of the school. These include, but are not limited to: sunglasses, clothing items, jewelry, money, purses, backpacks, yearbooks, I-pods, cell phones, and other electronic devices. Misplaced clothing is stored in Magellan Pod for a short duration of time.

Prohibited Items The following items are prohibited (banned) on campus: Cameras, electronic music devices, hats/ caps/ bandanas, headsets, laser pens, pagers, wallet chains, water guns, weapons, use of roller blades, use of skateboards. These items will be confiscated and will be returned to the student’s parent or guardian at the end of the week, or when deemed appropriate. Devices not picked up within 30 days will be auctioned, donated, or otherwise disposed of. *Students are not to bring candy, gum or seeds to school. These items are not permitted because of problems caused by misuse. Students may not sell candy as part of fundraising projects for another school or organization on the La Joya campus.

Campus Conduct: Campus Rules are designed to promote a safe and attractive learning environment . Additional campus rules
Restroom vandalism will not be tolerated; students are not to mark or deface any school property. Students will not spit on grounds or walkways. Students are to use good judgment in their relationships with the opposite or same sex. The following behavior is not permitted: kissing, lying or sitting together in an inappropriate manner, or any other act that may not be in good taste or appropriate Student should not loitering in the parking lot, bike racks, or in front of the school is prohibited.

Bathroom Conduct Prepared Ask teacher to use restroom at an appropriate time in class Respect Wait your turn Integrity Go immediately to the bathroom and return immediately when finished Put trash in trash cans Determination Use restroom during break times when possible Etiquette Wash your hands when finished Flush toilet when you are finished

Bicycles/Skateboards
Bicycles and Skateboards are only allowed in the bike and skateboard rack areas. They will not be stored in classrooms or the office. Students may not ride bicycles or skateboards on school grounds. Students must have a lock on their bikes or skateboards as the school is not responsible for theft or damage. Students must provide their own lock.
