2 Bath salts, those things we bathe in??
No bath salts are the common street name for the drug Synthetic Cathinones. The reason they have this name is they share a similar appearance with actual bath salts.

3 What are synthetic cathinones?
Synthetic Cathinones are the synthetic version of cathinone. Cathinone comes from the Khat plant. This plant is grown in East Africa and is chewed on for its mild stimulant effects.

4 Synthetic does it matter?
Synthetic means that it was created by humans in a lab. In the case of Synthetic Cathinone this makes it very dangerous. It no longer is a mild stimulant like in the Khat plan.

5 What type of drug is it? Bath Salts are a stimulant like meth and cocaine. It also has a hallucinogen side to it as well like MDMA. It is classified as a schedule 1 drug by the US Government.

8 Usage cont. The amount bath salts needed to get a high is 3 to 5 milligrams. The average dose size is 5 to 20 milligrams. Overdose is common since the drugs packaging often recommends larger than needed doses. Also quality control is poor so you could take a lot of it one day then take the same amount the next but over dose because of the concentration.

Since bath salts are a relatively new drug little is know about how they affect the brain. It is thought that it works similarly to meth, cocaine, and MDMA. All that at once… sounds fun doesn’t it?? (hint: it’s not)
