Rom. 13: The Power of physical enforcement is ceded to the civil Govt.
Spiritual enforcement is each individual

Vs.3 "you shall not listen to the words of that prophet
That prophet or that dreamer …shall be put to death
11 …Israel shall hear and fear, …not again do such wickedness …. (Follow false witnesses)
Consider: Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Do we have a proper fear of false prophets?

5. Acting Presumptuously Deut 17:8-13
Matters of Controversy-Vs. 9 …priests, the Levites, and to the judge …and inquire of them;
Vs. 11 Judgment determined by the law
They were to Carryout Judgment
Man acts presumptuously--Will not heed the priest
Prov 6:19… And one who sows discord among brethren.
Penalty—Death of the man who sows discord
Romans 16:17
The effect—vs. 13 …and not act presumptuously.

6. Stubborn rebellious son Deut 21:18-21
Characteristic: who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother
When chastened will not heed
Bring matter to elders
Then all the men of his city shall stone him
Vs. 21… all Israel shall hear and fear.
Is there a difference between this son and the man acting presumptuously?

7. Kidnapping
Deuteronomy 24:7 "If a man is found kidnapping any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and mistreats him or sells him, then that kidnapper shall die; and you shall put away the evil from among you.

8. Sexual offenses Deut 22:13-30
Sexual purity of wife
Innocent—husband punished--Guilty—she is stoned
Adultery--Both die
Rape of betrothed in the city--Both die
Rape of betrothed in the Country--The man shall die
Rape of Virgin—Fine & Marriage without divorce
