TRANSITIONING INTO A NEW SEASON
Ecclesiastes 3:1; Joshua 1:1-2
2
“There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven:” Ecclesiastes 3:1 HCSB
3
“After the death of Moses the Lord’s servant, the Lord spoke to Joshua son of Nun, who had served Moses: “Moses My servant is dead. Now you and all the people prepare to cross over the Jordan to the land I am giving the Israelites.” Joshua 1:1-2 HCSB
4
THE BIG IDEA: WHEN GOD TRANSITIONS YOU INTO A NEW SEASON, IT REQUIRES YOU TO SURRENDER.
5
“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins
“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost as well as the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins.”” Mark 2:22 HCSB
6
Will you allow God to make you into fresh wineskins so he can put new wine in you?
7
What does transition mean
What does transition mean? the process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another. (Transformation, Metamorphosis)
8
Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us of two things:
“There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven:” Ecclesiastes 3:1 HCSB
9
First, God is the author of time.
10
Second, God appoints certains season in our lives for His good.
11
Drifting in the current of life will cause you to miss out on the future God has for you.
12
Are you celebrating a season, you’re no longer in
Are you celebrating a season, you’re no longer in? Are you drifting in the current of life, satisfied with drifting? Are you building monuments instead of building momentum?
13
How does this play into Joshua 1:1-2
“After the death of Moses the Lord’s servant, the Lord spoke to Joshua son of Nun, who had served Moses: “Moses My servant is dead. Now you and all the people prepare to cross over the Jordan to the land I am giving the Israelites.” Joshua 1:1-2 HCSB
14
First, God reminds Joshua that Moses, my servant is dead.
15
Second, God told Joshua was to prepare.
16
When transitioning into a new season there is always a process of preparation.
Prepare means that something new is about to come but you will not be ready for it if you are not prepared.
17
Prepare means to: to make yourself ready for something that you will be doing, something that you expect to happen. In other words, prepare means to surrender.
18
Will you surrender to the new season God wants to take you into
Will you surrender to the new season God wants to take you into? Your surrender is your preparation.
