History of Moulin Rouge:
The translation of Moulin Rouge is 'Red Mill' in French. Moulin Rouge is also a cabaret in Paris, France. In today's world it is a big tourist attraction, offering musical dance entertainment for visitors around the world. It is best known as the spiritual birthplace of the modern form of the can-can dance, which was originally introduced as a seductive dance by the courtesans. (Video of people doing the can-can)

The story behind the film:
" A passion- filled poet falls for a breath taking courtesan in this exotic musical love story from the unique and spellbinding imagination of visionary director Baz Luhrmann (Romeo and Juliet, Strictly Ballroom). Stunning performances from stars Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor fuel this moving romantic journey set in and around a fabulous sensuous night club. Mesmerizing and exuberant entertainment, the film pops with a contemporary, chart-topping soundtrack that makes Moulin Rouge an experience you wont forget."

My opinion: This dance would be ideally for the dancers. As there is only a few of us in our class anyway it would be a good idea to have it as a dance from the year 1 dancers. Every dancer in the film has something different about them. They all have different characteristics. It would be a different way to get us dancers to express us and improve our facial expressions. Making us all individually more confident.
