4. Temple BI needed a way to keep track of Cognos license usage, report usage and performance
We initially contracted a consultant to build a solution, but due to an injury we ended up finishing the project on our own. We have some dashboards that are useable but perform poorly. We went on to redesign the backend using OWB and dimensional modeling in the Banner ODS. Anyone have the same need? We want to share our experience with other Cognos institutions.

7. Audit Database Cognos User Logon Table Run Report Table
Captures basic log-on and log-off event data for Cognos users.
Also captures “timeout” info for session terminations.
Cognos shut downs may result in unbalanced logins, eg, login with no logoff.
Run Report Table
Using this table you can figure out the Who, What and When.
Useful for identifying which reports take longest to run and the frequency of usage for each report.
