2. Installing Clam AV 1
Using the command line, issue the following command:
sudo apt-get install clamav
Next, get the update definitions using the command:
sudo freshclam
Your Clam Anti-Virus is now ready to use.

General AV Usage Notes
Typical of any anti-virus product, be sure that the updates which include definitions are installed before scanning.
Pick what part of the computer system you want scanned.
Decide how often the scan should be done and make sure it happens.
Decide on what actions should be taken when problem files are found. (Automatic removal can cause serious problems if system files are mistakenly found and removed on a computer with a Linux distribution.)

Dave's AV Usage Choices
A crontab item to remind me to do a monthly scan.
A Bash script to cause the required actions.
Select to scan my /home directory.
Have a description of the FOUND items put in a text listing on my desktop so I can select what actions I want to take with them.
Allow me to manually delete the problem files.

The Crontab List Item
On the first of the month at 8:30 am I will get a cron job reminder posted on my desktop to do the monthly anti-virus scan.
That day I will run ./avscan using a command line on the terminal.
