Influenced by early American Rock and Roll musicians such as Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, and Little Ritchie. Changed pop culture in America - “Beatlemania” Four members: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison History of The Beatles: John Lennon: February 7, The Beatles arrive in the U.S. “Most Popular Band in the World” in the 60s. Some people burned Beatles records after John Lennon said the band was “more popular than Jesus”. Constantly innovating the sound of Rock and each album released was something new. Made writing your own music expected to be considered a good band. John Lennon died by assassination in December, 1980, after being a voice for peace for many years. Sold more than 1 billion records (only Elvis has also done so), inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
