What is a fraction? When an object is divided into a number of equal parts then each part is called a fraction. Two fifths of an object can be written as: numerator says how many parts in the fraction _ "divide by" denominator says how many equal parts in the whole object Always remember: denominator can NEVER be 0. What is a percentage? A percent is another way to identify a part of a whole. A percent is a fraction where the denominator is Percentages are always out of 100. 15% = 15/100 26% = 26/100 Sale 25% off!!! – You are saving 25c for each dollar that you spend.

What is a decimal? A Decimal Number (based on the number 10) contains a Decimal Point. To understand decimal numbers you must first know about Place Value.

A decimal has two parts, the integer part (whole part) the fractional part, which starts with the dot character (bits and pieces) Consider this decimal number: 2.5. The integer part is 2 and the fractional part is .5.
