2. The story
The addams family follows the lives of an american family who are more odd than most. The weird, disturbing and unusual makes up the addams families everyday life. The addams family consists of Gomez, Morticia, Uncle fester, Lurch, Grandmama, Wednesday, Pugsley and Thing. A lot of movies, series and books followed their everyday life, highlighting how unusual they are compared to an average household as humour.
The addamses are a satirical inversion of the ideal 20th century American family, eccentric wealthy aristocratic and don’t care that others find them bizarre or frightening

4. Adaptations The addams family first appeared in cartoon strips.
Since then they’ve been adapted to Television, books, soundtracks, films, video games and a live musical currently touring the UK.
The addams family first appeared in cartoons by Charles Addams which were published in The New Yorker. These were one-panel gags and the characters were undeveloped and unnamed until the television series production.
They have since been adapted to other media including television series (both live and animated), books, soundtracks, films, video games and even a live musical which is currently touring england. The first animated series ran on saturday mornings from 1973 to 1975, the characters were reflective of the original Charles Addams cartoons. A comic book series was also produced in connection with the show but it only lasted three issues. Another animated series remake ran in 1992 to 1993 after producers of ABC realised the success of the 1991 addams family movie. New models of characters were used for this series though they still kept a resemblance to the orgiinal cartoons.

The addams family 1991 film was well received and even spun a game for various handheld devices. This film kept to the gothic and black comedy of the original cartoons however it did add lighter tones with jokes possibly for children's enjoyment as it was released as a family film. The film has been complimented for its humour and brilliant one liners which keep in touch with the original humour of the addams family. I believe the reason for this films success was that it kept in style with the original addams family cartoons and also used actors that reflect the original characters precisely.
Addams family reunion was based more from the addams family tv series than the original cartoon. It was created as a straight to video release and premiered only on tv. It was a stand alone film from the two previous as it was not done by paramount. This movie was criticized harshly as the actors were out of place for their characters especially compared to the paramount films, it also looses a lot of black humour and goes to more childish humour, thus the film really skips out on the great aspects of what made the traditional addams family so good.

6. Reboot
My idea for the reboot is to have the addams family as a set of puppets or dolls that move around freely when they aren’t being watched. They consist of the original addams family as puppets, dolls and more.
Aimed at children
Would air on a children's broadcasting channel such as CBBC
The thing would be a discarded hand of a full size mannequin making the thing subsequently taller than the rest of the addams family. They would reside in a tv show entirely in black and white aspect with limited colour similar to that of the addams family movie which kept mainly to a black, white and grey colour scheme, keeping the atmosphere would be dim and dark. At the end of each episode it is revealed that the puppet/doll family of the addams was owned by wednesday of the original addams family adding more to their twisted humour.

7. Reboot story
Each episode will follow a similar pattern, there is a mysterious hole in the bottom of the doll house which is an anomaly spawning monsters, each episode Wednesday and Pugsley must stop the monsters from whatever evil plan they intend to unleash whether it be destroying the house or ending the addams family. However, from the children’s perspective they are simply ‘playing’ with the monsters and once defeated, the monsters will retreat back into the mystical hole ending the episode
The main focus of the series will be Wednesday as a main character along with Pugsly as a side kick, however it will still include other members of the addams family the main focus will be on Wednesday and her adventures.

8. Influences
The main idea of the addams family as puppets, dolls and toys would add more horror aspects to match their style and personalities as depending on the art style/presentation dolls can be used to create creepy and unnatural appearances and movement.
The idea that they move around freely is similar and inspired by the plot of toy story.
I also wanted to incorporate a similar and inspired style from tim burton films such as corpse bride and a nightmare before christmas which creates a good aspect of horror aimed towards children and families using stop motion.
I was also inspired by older tv programs aimed at children such as bill and ben, the woodentops, captain scarlet and others which show the use of puppets was very popular and I wanted to recreate this.

10. Changes
Stop motion is commonly used for children's tv animations and is also incorporated into many reboots of older shows. With the inspiration of tim burton films, I decided this style of stop motion would work best for my project.
Films such as coraline and corpse bride are great for creating a spooky, creepy atmosphere with stop motion and still keeping the film aimed towards children.
Initially the addams family seems aimed more at an adult audience but over time with the release of tv series and film it begins to aim more towards families with slapstick for kids and more mature jokes aimed at the adults.
I want to aim my project at children as a lot of children’s tv shows keep to the same bright, energetic and happy-go-lucky tone whereas the addams family would be a dark, creepy yet humourous show for kids to enjoy, adding more variety to what they can be introduced and exposed to.
