WE DO CARE about the Environment Luckily, in Slavicin, there is not so polluted air by transportation as it is in other big cities. In our town we do not have many cars, buses or trams and trolley buses. These means of transport operate more in the region´s main city, Zlin. Therefore, our town isn't so much polluted like Prague and other big cities where a lot of vehicles run daily. But the Czech Republic is a centre of Europe and a lot of lorries often ride across our country. Even though, our town is quite small, we have got plenty of rubbish. The worst situation comes always after winter because slush melts and uncovers rubbish which people threw off to nature. For the rest of the year there isn't so much rubbish around as it is after winter. In the town we have got quite a lot of dustbins intended for sorting of rubbish in the whole town which are distinguished with colours. We have got the same dustbins for sorting of rubbish in the school too. Blue bins are for papers, yellow bins are for plastics, green bins are for glasses and black bins are for other waste. All students in our school sort rubbish and they are involved in scrap collecting around the school. In that trend students help in their households and sort rubbish too. This is what majority of households do.

There is a little river which flows through Slavicin and isn´t very clean. In the little river there is still a lot of rubbish while our ponds are quite clean. So, we should not forget the problems some areas have to face. Round the town are situated a lot of forests which are nice and clean. People in Slavicin cultivate variety of vegetables and fruits in the garden and they cultivate various crops (e.g. grain, corn, potatoes etc.) in the field. People breed cattle and other kinds of animals. Hostetin, a small ecological village, is situated nearby Slavicin. In Hostetin people make efforts to maintain cleanness of the village. They participate in the Programme on Sustainable Consumption and Production in the Czech Republic and ecologically cultivate pure and big apples. You can visit the well-known sweet-cider house and taste delicious and very healthy apple cider.

Students of GJP also make excursions to Hostetin in order for find out how to behave properly in nature. Each class usually goes for an excursion to Hostetin once a year and some classes make excursions even twice a year. The village has an aquatic root zone wastewater treatment system and there are clean ponds and a little river too. All in all, this place should not be missed by anybody who comes for a visit.

And what to say in the end? We should definitely keep trying to preserve the environment as it is not only here in Slavicin but also everywhere we go and do even more for it – save it, protect it, do our best to keep cleanness of it. As long as only one person does it, it will not help. We do it for us!!! To live happilly means to live in healthy environment. That is what everybody wants!!!
