Flying supertot Toddler Oliver Hall boasted to his pals yesterday that he could fly like his favourite cartoon character, Super Ted. Moments later, the 4-year old plunged 20ft from his bedroom window – and escaped unhurt. His mother Pamela said at home in Denmead, Hants: “I looked outside and he way lying in the garden crying. ‘I screamed to my husband to call an ambulance and they rushed him to hospital for X-rays, but there wasn’t even a scratch on him.” Mrs Hall added: “I think I’ll have to stop him watching Super Ted … and get some locks put on the windows.

Alive! A girl with no heart
A baby girl has lived for a week without her heart beating. Now it is working again and she is well on the road to recovery. The baby, nine-month old Paola Marongiu, underwent surgery in a hospital near Milan to correct a heart defect. The operation was successful, but Paola’s heart stopped beating soon afterwards. Doctors implanted two mechanical pumps in her chest to circulate her blood while the heart slowly recovered from the strain of surgery. Seven days later, it started beating again and the pumps were disconnected. Paola’s case is a medical “first”. Her mother Vincenzina said yesterday: “It’s a miracle.” “The doctors say that Paola could be home in time for Christmas.”
