3. MATTHEW 9:9-13 Jesus came looking for those who needed mercy
1 Timothy 1: Paul was shown mercy
Not only Jesus but Pharisees should show mercy
Do we look for opportunities to show mercy?

4. MATTHEW 12:1-12 Perhaps they were on their way to the synagogue
Pharisees loosed many laws but not Sabbath law
Matthew 23:23 “tithe mint and dill and cummin”
The Sabbath was an act of mercy made for man
If they understood mercy not have condemned

5. MATTHEW 18:21-35 Rabbis taught that forgiving 3 times is sufficient
Jesus taught 70 x 7 meaning should be no limits
Luke 17:4 “If he trespass against you seven times…”
Pray: “Forgive our trespasses as we forgive others.”
Consider the immense debt we owe for our sin

6. LUKE 10:25-37 Notice Jesus didn’t call him the good Samaritan
Perhaps wanted to only love those who love them
The true neighbor was one who showed mercy
John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this…”
Saying “be warmed and filled” is not compassion

7. JAMES 2:1-13 Favoritism towards those of upper class wrong
Lack of concern for those who need compassion
God has a great love for those who are in need
Failing in just this one point is very significant
Show no mercy now and receive no mercy then
