NuPECC News: Long Range Plan
The Nuclear Physics European Collaboration Committee has started the preparation of a new Long Range Plan for Nuclear Science in Europe. Last one in LRP is important reference for a period of 5-7 years. 6 chapters have been identified like in the editions of 2004 and 2010. 1. Hadron Physics. Diego Bettoni (Ferrara) + Hartmut Wittig (Mainz) 2. Properties of strong-interacting Matter (Silvia Masciocchi & Francois Gelis) 3. Nuclear Structure and Reaction Dynamics (Elias Khan & John Simpson) 4. Nuclear Astrophysics (Gabriel Martinez-Pinedo & Alison Laird) 5. Symmetries and Fundamental Interactions (Klaus Blaum & K. Kirch) 6. Applications and societal benefits (Marco Durante & Alain Letourneau) First draft presented in NuPECC meeting in Uppsala and later on in Vienna VERY ADVANCED The town meeting to have the final public discussion will be hosted by GSI-FAIR in of January preparation for recommendations day before.

Tentative title: “Focus on exotic beams at ISOLDE: A laboratory Portrait ” To be publish in J Phys G in 2017 Content: Experimental facilities and methods (on invitation) pages 16 invited papers 3 invited contributions by theoretician: A, Schrenk, A. Poves , J. Dobaczewski Articles by submission: expected 15 contributions Timeline: Deadline: 1st of November Information at the ISOLDE webpage. Some contributions have been handled in , many has asked for 2 extra weeks. Contact person in IOP Claire Fullarton: We are very happy with the very enthusiastic response of the different people. We do not see any showstopper Link in the ISOLDEwebpage

HIE-ISOLDE Phase I celebration
Celebration date : Wednesday 28th of September 2016 More than 100 people invited. 76 people participated in the lunch and many more in the aperitif and the presentation at the CERN Auditorium. The full CERN directorate was present, the Belgian secretary of state for education, many council representatives, most of the ISOLDE representatives and directors of other labs: GANIL, Future FAIR. Program: Chair by B. Blank Few words by Fabiola Gianotti Frederick Bordry: Introducing CERN M.JGB: Presenting ISOLDE Yacince Kadi: introducing the project Mme Elke Sleurs representing the stateholders Celebración el 28 de Septiembre de 2016

MoU New MoU sent in September 2016 for 2017-2019.
As it will have automatic renewal we consider important to reduce the period to facilitate the compromise and the update of annexes. In the New MoU India and Ireland will not be members. Still Bulgaria and Portugal in the pipeline. Many countries has already signed the MoU: Denmark, France, Italy,…

Collaboration Budget Healthy situation Started paying 140 kCHF of loan
824 kCHF instead of 400 kCHF to finish paying the expediture on HIE-ISOLDE project until December 2015. Presently 415 kCHF in the account Greece paid 2012 and secure the funds until 2014. Paid 2016: CERN, Ge, Sk, Sw, Be, Dk, UK, Po, Ro, SA Support for Akira Miyazaki Action taken: 1. Find an affiliation in Europe University of Manchester (thanks to Kieran Flanagan). Financial support: Internal memorandum with the head of the RF group (E. Jensen) to provide the allowance for 18 months. Request to Collaboration: 18 months at the rate of 2900 CHF/month

Building 508 The building is fully in function and heavily used as planned. The building belongs to EP as we have the maximum occupancies. The bottom floor except for the chemical laboratory The heat in the top floor is higher than expected in particular in the Control Room. We have had temporary cooler to alleviate the situation. At the same time we have been working to get a global solution. The solution is to use the chilled water to feed the devices. Share cost by EP, BE, EN proportional to the surface. Secure funds from EP at the level of CHF. Probably extra support by the Collaboration will be required. Still I have not seen the budget although it is asked since July! Plan to be done between February and April.
