1 BIND 10 Packaging & Distribution
Menlo Park, Jeremy Reed

2 Goals Minimize dependencies for build and run-time requirements
Dependencies have compatible licensing (with same goals) Take advantage of other's work such as using external logging library and bundling some external C++ code into our source tree tarballs using standard autoconf/automake: ./configure && make && make install Frequent releases (snapshot releases currently around every 6 to 8 weeks).

3 Dependencies C++ compiler, make, pkg-config boost headers
botan crypto library log4cplus logging library ASIO (but we include in our source tree) SQLite3 Python 3.1 or 3.2 python sqlite3 module

4 Packaging Need package maintainers
FreeBSD ports, gentoo portage, NetBSD pkgsrc, RPM, Debian dpkg, etc. Default resolver option, auth server option, DHCP service, etc. Start up script (rc.d / init.d) Possible bare system with minimum functionality without python requirement (such as NetBSD core OS) then add python to add features. Configuration files

5 Tests check (make check) target for unit tests / regression tests
pytest googletest is build-only dependency if desired to run c++ tests lettuce is only needed if running behavior / functional tests plan to extend the functional / protocol test suite to be server agnostic

6 Build / Test Farm CentOS 5 Linux x86_64 GCC MacOS X 10.6 x86_64 Clang
Debian 5 Linux i686 GCC Debian (sid) Linux x86_64 GCC FreeBSD 8 amd64 GCC FreeBSD 8 i386 GCC FreeBSD 8 i386 Clang MacOS X 10.6 x86_64 Clang MacOS X 10.6 x86_64 GCC NetBSD 5 i386 NetBSD 5 amd64 Solaris 10 Sparc GCC Solaris 10 Sparc Sunstudio
