Intention Develop a TEACHING AGENDA by setting instructional goals (economic content and other skills) and use classroom time, assignments, and beyond classroom activities to achieve goals Recognize good teaching requires effort (time!) – Content – Delivery – Administration – Beyond course Learn from experience and others

Respect Treat students as valued individuals Match expectations Administer course efficiently Carefully select the textbook Make yourself available Maintain leadership

Engage Students in Classroom - Rules Activities must be DIRECTLY on topic – Explain why you are doing it – Review how activity relates to material Never make a student look foolish

Engage Students in Classroom - Ideas Delivery of material Props Music Case studies and real world examples Ask questions Games and experiments In class team projects In class readings In class writing assignments

Beyond the Classroom Carefully select these activities to meet goals Level of involvement can vary My activities – Club advising or participation – Study abroad program
