7. Search Process and Strategy
A typical search takes 3-6 months of active research and pursuit.
Four essential steps in organizing a successful job and internship search include:
Self-assessment: Identify goals, values, skills, interests, motivations and strengths.
Research and networking: Learn about individual companies, roles and fields through targeted industry research and networking.
Self-marketing: Create individualized resumes, cover letters and interview skills that demonstrate the match between experience and the position.
Decision-making: Clarify priorities to assess and respond to offers and choose options that meet identified needs.
Search Strategies
Search for jobs/internships that are posted on websites.
Gather information about positions or potential openings from networking and research.

With over 1000 internship reviews, the Brandeis Internship Exchange is an easy and convenient online tool for Brandeis students to find and share real internship opportunities; for Brandeis students, by Brandeis students.

12. Funding
Brandeis’ World of Work fellowship program is a highly competitive program that awards stipends to Brandeis undergraduates who pursue unpaid summer internships. Hiatt administers several types of WOW fellowships including, universal, politics and public service, social work, social justice, science, theater, and experiential learning
Some funding is based on type of experience including undergraduate research and study abroad, others are based on particular fields including politics and women’s and gender studies, and others are focused on geographic location including the India Initiative.
The Office of Scholarships and Fellowships provides guidance for academic fellowships such as Fulbright, Rhodes, Marshall, Goldwater and others. Additional fellowships are listed in Handshake.
The YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund encourages gifted and enterprising liberal arts students to pursue careers in design, merchandising, retail and business.

13. Outcomes & Beyond Brandeis
The Hiatt Career Center’s annual destination survey provides insight into the employment and continuing education status of Brandeis University graduates within six months of graduation.
Data includes destination data data collection is underway.
