Having 2-3 food groups in a snack will keep your child full longer and the nutritional value of the snack will be high. Kid Approved snacks (pictured): Ants on a log (peanut butter can be used instead of cream cheese) Yogurt parfait (use any cereal, fruit and yogurt that is on hand) Trail mix (use any nuts, cereal, raisin, chocolate pieces, that is on hand) Fruit Kabob (use popsicle sticks, and dip in yogurt) Banana Crunch Roll Ups (spread peanut butter, honey on a tortilla, place a banana in the middle, roll it up and cut) Fruits Smoothie (use any fruit, yogurt, ice cubes, fruit juice and blend in a blender) Have the parents share what other snacks they could serve or do serve their children that they feel or well balanced/nutritious.

13 Dip It One way to make foods more appealing to children is to provide them something to “dip” it in. Fruit dipped in yogurt. Vegetable dipped in Ranch dressing.

14 Cookie Cutters Use cookie cutters on sandwiches, cheese slices, tortilla shells, etc. to make meals fun and exciting for your children.

15 Veggie Appeal To get children to eat more vegetables add toppings such as cheese to the vegetable. Grow a garden and let the children help plant, water, and harvest the vegetables. “Hide” vegetables in casseroles, pizza, and pasta dishes. Make faces out of vegetables/fruit on bagels, biscuits, pancakes, waffles, etc. Frozen, fresh and canned fruit are all very nutritious.
