1 Directors pitch By jess, lotty and sian.

2 Overview of the plot. A man is walking in a woodland area in search of his lost dog. As he approaches a particularly foggy part of the woodland he hears a noise which he thinks could be his lost dog, Max. He is wrong and as a consequence gets kidnapped. He suffers from injuries where rope has been tied onto his wrists and ankles and a blow to his head. The clip is left on a cliff hanger of his worried girlfriend texting the protagonist and the unknown antagonist picking up a knife and dragging it out of the shot.

3 Summary of opening scene.
There is the male protagonist, Matt, restrained to a chair with blood on his wrists and his ankles. He is tied up in a deserted area to signify the mystery to our thriller. They scream for help but no one is around apart from the assailant in a white mask who lurks in the shadows out of shot.

4 Shooting schedule. We will be filming in our free periods and in our media study hour. We will also be filming after school on days we all agree to meet up on for around 3 hours.

5 Props. A stall – we will have the protagonist on a stall as it is less comfortable for them so then the acting is more believable and genuine. Rope – We used this as the prop which the assailant will use to restrain Matt as it is a typical prop use in thriller films by the antagonist. E.g. in the film Single White Female, the antagonist ties up the protagonist on a chair. Fake blood – This was used to create a better sense of danger and made it more realistic so then the audience would understand the urgency of the situation. A white mask – This helped keep the theme of mystery throughout our thriller and keep the horror factor as masks are commonly known for horror films and thrillers such as Scream and the Phantom of The Opera. Knife – This highlights the danger as well as the implications of something bad happening to the protagonist which entices the viewer to watch on to find out what happens. Further adding to the mystery theme of our thriller. Phone – On the end scene we use a phone to show messages of a scared girlfriend texting frantically. We used the phone because thrillers are supposed to scare people due to the fact of it happening to them as well. Therefore, the phone represents the fact that it could also happen to our audience keeping them on the edge of their seats causing a reaction.

6 Costume. The protagonist will be wearing casual clothing like jeans and a shirt with trainer like shoes. This is to create a sense of realism towards the audience making them seem innocent and vulnerable. They won’t be wearing stereotypical teenager clothing as we want our character to come across as mature to widen the age range of our audiences. The kidnapper will be wearing black trousers and a black hoodie with a white mask. The dark colours and the mask will create a enigma towards the audience and will help with our mystery theme throughout our thriller piece.

7 Actors list Matt baker- as the slightly naïve protagonist. We picked Matt because we felt he would be good in this part as he has done drama before and therefore would be sensible and not waste time while filming. We also went through an audition process where deduced people on ability and looks. Lotty Isles – as the mysterious kidnapper. We didn’t want the kidnapper on the screen too much as to not get rid of the mystery element to our opening sequence.

8 Possible locations. We could use a old abandoned building with graffiti on it so it is also a unknown area. It would help create suspense to the audience. We could use a forest to create a mysterious effect as it is a unknown area. It would also help create a enigma as we could use low key lighting.

9 Music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMETfcg71f8
We chose this music because It gradually builds suspense, and it works well with our shots and the genre conventions. We are planning to start the music from minutes, and then on the 6th shot we will go from minutes. On the 5th shot we a re planning to bring the music down slightly so you can here the victim breathing and rustling.

10 HOSTAGE. Font HOSTAGE HOSTAG E
WE WANT TO USE THIS FONT AS WE THINK IT WOULD SUITE THE GENRE OF OUR OPENING TITLE SEQUENCE. IT WILL ALL BE IN CAPITAL LETTERS, THE FONT NAME IS CALLED Prestige Elite Std Bold. WE WANT THE FONT TO COME UP LETTER BY LETTER LIKE A TYPE WRITER. WE WILL USE THE SIZE FONT 60, THIS IS SO IT STANDS OUT TO THE AUDIENCE. HOSTAGE HOSTAG E HOSTAGE.
