Sci ;54(12): doi: /iovs Figure Legend: Total uptake of 59Fe from 59Fe-Tf by LECs cultured in N or H conditions. LECs were loaded with iron for 6 hours or 24 hours and lysed with 10 mM Tris/HCl buffer containing 15% sucrose and protease inhibitor cocktail as described in the Methods section. The whole lysates were counted in a gamma counter. Iron uptake was normalized to the protein content. Results are expressed as the mean ± SEM of at least nine samples. *Significantly different from N at the same time point, P < 0.05.
