(a) In the static grating condition a −45 deg red grating was presented to the left eye and +45 deg green grating was presented to the right eye throughout the trial. (b) The flicker-only condition was similar to the static grating condition except that the gratings were flickering on and off at 18 Hz. (c) In the swap-only condition the −45 deg red grating was presented to the left eye and the +45 deg green grating was presented to the right eye but after each 333 ms the stimuli were interchanged between eyes. (d) In the flicker-and-swap condition, the gratings were flickering on and off at 18 Hz and exchanging between the eyes every 333 ms.
