Texas Revolution Battle Foldable
You will be creating a booklet on the 5 major battles of the Texas Revolution. The booklet is an in-class activity and will be a MAJOR GRADE. This is a MAJOR GRADE!! ALL BOOKLETS WILL BE DUE BY: __________________________________

Directions The Battle Booklet will include the following:
Outside of flap- Name of battle Picture of battle Results-Texas Victory or Mexico Victory Inside of flap- Who- Major characters involved in the battle. What- What happened? When- Date of battle Where- Where did the battle take place? Extras- Extra details, cool facts and/or events that go with the battle/topic Back of booklet- Timeline of all battles/events with date. REQUIREMENTS: All booklets must be neat, with no pencil, pictures colored, and writing/pictures should be outlined in black ink or fine point sharpie.

Battle of Gonzales- October 2, 1835
Mexican government wanted a cannon returned from the colonists at Gonzales. General Cos sends his army/troops to go get it. Texans refused- made a flag- ‘Come and Take It’ Known as the ‘Lexington’ of the Texas Revolution (First shots fired) Proved the Texans were willing to use military force against Mexico. Texas won, killed 1 Mexican soldier, which forced the rest to retreat.

Battle of Gonzales First Flap of Foldable (Inside)
When: October 2, 1835 Who: Mexican Troops led by Francisco de Castaneda / Texan militia led by John Moore What Happened: Mexican troops came to take a cannon away from the town of Gonzales. The Texans refused to give it up, flew a flag that said “Come and Take It” and fired the cannon at the Mexican troops. One Mexican soldier died and the Mexicans retreated back to San Antonio. This is known as the first shots of the Texas Revolution. Proved that these men were willing to fight against Mexico. Victory

EXTRA: Battle (Capture) of Goliad First Flap of Foldable (Inside)
When: October 9, 1835 Who: defended by 27 Mexican soldiers/ Texan militia led by George Collinsworth Where: Mexican Presidio at La Bahia What Happened: General Cos has left the presidio to head to San Antonio, leaving all his supplies and silver behind. The Texans attacked the fort and took it over, taking all of General Cos’ supplies and silver. Victory =27 SILVER
