The Water Cycle Ms. Williford 4th Grade
2
Preview Before we begin, lets watch this short clip on the water cycle
4
Slowly these vapors of waters rise into the sky.
Stage 1 Evaporation In this stage, the Sun starts to evaporate the water in the bodies of water. This includes oceans, ponds, lakes, rivers, and seas. The water is in a liquid form in the water bodies. However, the sun’s heat converts it into a gaseous form. Slowly these vapors of waters rise into the sky.
6
In this stage cloud formation occurs.
Condensation In this stage cloud formation occurs. The water in the form of vapors rising, cools down at a certain height and condenses to form clouds.
8
Stage 3 Precipitation The water keeps condensing to form clouds, but when there is too much accumulation or collection of water in these clouds, the clouds become heavy. Then it begins to rain!
10
Stage 4 Collection When the precipitation falls on the ground, it gets stored under the ground, and is called 'ground water'. Then, again evaporation starts due to the Sun's heat and the cycle happens again!
12
Overview Now that we have learned about the different stages of the water cycle, lets see how it all works together to make the water cycle!
