This week we are starting a new unit on apples. Over the next several weeks, we will learn about the apple life cycle, the parts of an apple, and about different varieties of apples and apple products. We will be introducing a new apple-themed sensory bin, and reading many picture books that go along with our theme! In addition to all the apple-themed activities mentioned in this newsletter, students will also continue to work on individual goals and objectives 
Classroom Needs
As a part of our new unit, we will be making tasting different apple products. We are in need of the following ingredients:
Apple juice (1 jug or 8 juice boxes)
Apple sauce (8 individual cups/pouches)
Apple Jacks cereal (1 box)
Apple Chips (1 bag)
Apple Butter (1 jar)
If you are willing to donate any of the items listed, please let complete the attached form and I will send home a confirmation note.
What’s Happening In…
Reading: We will be reading many picture books about apples and working on answering basic wh- questions about the stories and sequencing events. Students will also read leveled books about apples.
Writing: We will be making a class Apples Up on Top book! Students will also continue to work on individual writing goals.
Math: Students will work on graphing results of class poles on favorite apple/apple products.
Science: Students will investigating whether apples sink or float in water. Student will also explore the effect of different liquids on apple slices.
