1 JAYANTI – A new disease and insect tolerant variety for deepwater rice
S Mohanty, D Nayak, S Barik, L Behera, ON Singh & SK Pradhan Crop Improvement Division, Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack

2 Parentage: Samson Polo/Jalnidhi
Year of AICRIP testing: Promising for- Odisha & Uttar Pradesh Recommended by: 46th annual workshop (2011) held at Directorate of Rice Research,Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. Potential Yield: 4700 kg/ha Average Yield: kg/ha(Orissa, Stress) 3431 kg/ha (Zone III, Stress) Weighted avg.:3485kg/ha (Zone III, Stress)

3 Reaction to major diseases:
It showed moderately tolerance reaction to leaf blast, neck blast, sheath blight, sheath rot and rice tungro virus. Reaction to major pests: The line is resistant to stem borer , leaf folder, rice thrips, whorl maggot and EHB and moderately resistant to gall midge biotype1. Agronomic features: Easy threshability, suitable to normal sowing and seed rate, responsive to high fertilizer levels
