WELCOME BACK
Welcome back to the second part of the Autumn Term. I hope you were able to enjoy the half term week with family and friends. Traditionally, this term is a busy one with many events taking place, particularly as we approach the Christmas season. As a school, we aim to work in partnership with you so that your child is happy, safe and able to learn. And so, if you have any concerns or worries about your child, please do contact us straight away by asking for a meeting with your child’s class teacher. Thank you.
YEAR 2 FIRE BRIGADE VISIT
On Monday this week, class 2E had a visit from Lee Green Fire Brigade. The children have been learning about The Great Fire Of London, and the firefighters showed the children their modern equipment and gave some great information about how their equipment is very different nowadays! Later that day as a finale for their learning, the children made their own houses just like the ones from London in 1666, and they recreated the Great Fire of London!
PARENTPAY 
The Academy is removing the facility to use cash and cheques to pay for payment items such as dinner money, school trips and uniform etc. Payment items can be paid online using your credit or debit card through a secure website called ParentPay. ParentPay will be our preferred method of making payments to school.

We have posted a letter with your account activation details, just follow the instructions in the letter we sent you to get started with ParentPay.
You will not be able to activate your account without an activation letter. If you have not received your letter please contact the school reception to get a copy immediately.

Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal
Poppies will continue to be on sale in the playground next week, before and after school. Children supporting this cause will be allowed to wear poppies in school until Friday 10th November, when we will be holding special Remembrance celebrations

This Wednesday was the Feast of All Saints. Observing Christians usually remember their deceased relatives on this day. At St Matthew Academy, we have a Chaplaincy Team who are available to the children to provide support if needed. Please speak to a member of staff if your child has been affected by bereavement and would like some support in school.
