MANUFACTURING CAREER CLUSTER
2
OVERVIEW (Video in iCEV)
Professionals in the career cluster may be involved in developing product ideas, testing products to make sure they function properly, or even managing the shipment and receipt of goods. Starting in the late 1700’s the Industrial Revolution marked the beginning of powered, special-purpose machinery and mass production. In the early 1900’s, Henry Ford began using typical production processes to produce automobiles within the economic reach of the average American. A small welding shop may use computers to control the whole production process. Jobs in manufacturing are also associated with workplace hazards such as heavy lifting, exposure to chemicals and high noise levels.
