(L) Families who could not afford to use the library come back – when these kids acquire vocabulary and build literacy skills, it makes it more likely that they will be better prepared for the job market, have more choice in their careers, and make it less likely that they will be incarcerated, or be consumers of government assistance such as food stamps or welfare.
