God finds their sacrifices insulting
Is. 1:14, Hos. 6:6, Amos 5:21 Sacrifices, even great one, are not sufficient Micah 6: 6-7 With what shall I come before the Lord, And bow myself before the High God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, With calves a year old? 7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, Ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? Three important questions 1) With what shall I come before the Lord? 2) Will the Lord be pleased with extravagant sacrifices? 3) Is there anything at all I can do? Flesh can’t repay a spiritual debt Gal. 2:16; 2nd Tim. 1:9; Luke 17:10

Micah 6:8a – What is Good? He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you? God has shown us what is good Genesis 1 – It was “good” Hos. 4:6 – People destroyed for a lack of knowledge 1st Tim. 2: 1-6 – wants all to have a knowledge of the truth Heb. 13: – Equipped so He may work in us Two important points? We must answer the question of what is good…wicked wicked time! The Lord requires something of them and us! It was good…God and man in union, walking and talking in the garden…that is good…prior to sin they were able to walk and talk with God 3:8 Hos. 4:6 – This is a universal truth and one of the key storylines of the Bible…rebellion and rejection of God always leads to destruction 1st Tim. 2:1-6 – It is His desire that we know the Truth… Heb. 13:20-21 – Done everything so that we can Know

Micah 6:8a – What is Required?
He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you? It is His desire that we do Good Eph. 2:10 – created for good works 2nd Tim. 3:16-17 – thoroughly equipped for every good work Heb. 10:24 – stir one another up Gal. 6:9 – Don’t grow weary of good works Scripture actually talks a ton about doing good.

Micah 6:8b – Do Justly But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? Micah 2:1-2; 3:1-3; 6:11 -- in short supply Our natural orientation is selfishness Progression– self-centeredness, rationalization, outright destruction Scripture actually talks a ton about doing good.

Micah 6:8b – Do Justly But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? Acts 10:35, Matt. 6: Intentional James 1:22-25 – Do, doer, does, continues (5 times) Matt: 25:34-45 – Found in the details Matt. 12:34-36 – Give an account Justly – fair, morally right – God has shown us what is Good, what is Right Acts 10:35 – Peter leans that God doesn’t show favoritism, accepts those who DO good James 1:22-25 – Do Do Do – implication from verses is it’s easy to see but not implement! Matt – Find occasions to do right by people…I wonder if they’d done things differently had they known? Matt. 12:34-36 – Words reflect our hearts

Micah 6:8b – Love Mercy But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? Micah 2:8-9; 3:10-11; 6:12 James 2:8-13 – Recipients of mercy Eph. 2:3-5, Titus 3:4-5 – Because of His great love James 2:14-18 – Bestowers of mercy Matt 5: 7; 5:16 James 2: 8-13 – None of us have kept the law perfectly…EVER…we are all recepients of mercy…therefore, we should be merciful…but often we ARE NOT…SPEAK and DO… EXAMPLE – Eph. 2:3-5 and Titus 3:4-5 – His Great love Vs. 13 – If we don’t show mercy, we shouldn’t expect mercy Matt. 5:7 – Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy Matt 5:16 -- Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. James 2:14-18 – very practical – Again, the implication…our natural draw is NOT to BE Full of MERCY…
