How may the funds be used?
You might be:
A nurse or administrator who has an educational/leadership activity that will be valuable to your colleagues
A chapter or SIG leader who would like to run a special educational event for your members

You might be:
A nurse with an interest in conducting a professional development project in a specific area of oncology
Someone with dozens of other unique ideas. . . no matter what they are, you’re encouraged to apply!

What’s available?
Up to $5,000, provided as a stipend, for approved projects
Awarded on a monthly basis (while supplies last)

Who’s eligible to apply?
Must be a member of ONS and a Registered Nurse (RN)
Have a minimum of one year’s experience in oncology nursing
Focus her/his primary duties & responsibilities on full-time patient care
Demonstrate a commitment to the ONS Core Values (Innovation, Excellence, and Advocacy)

Selection/Scoring Criteria?
Funds will be awarded to qualifying applicants whose project demonstrates merit as a/an:
Professional development / continuing education activity
Training / teaching activity
ONS Chapter or SIG sponsored education activity

9. ONS/Lilly Oncology ‘Advancing Patient Care’ Project Funding
Funds will be awarded to qualifying applicants whose project demonstrates merit as a/an:
Professional development or continuing education activity that relates to oncology nursing leadership
Training activity that teaches nursing leadership and/or quality patient care topics to other nurses, and….

10. ONS/Lilly Oncology ‘Advancing Patient Care’ Project Funding
Funds will be awarded to qualifying applicants whose project demonstrates merit as a/an:
ONS chapter or SIG-sponsored educational program that provides learning opportunities addressing the topics of oncology nursing leadership and/or improving patient care.

11. ONS/Lilly Oncology ‘Advancing Patient Care’ Project Funding
Are there any limits and restrictions?
Funds may not be used for:
College tuition
Designating to a third-party
Membership dues
Certification or credentialing expenses
Conference travel or registration fees
To pay corporate overhead costs, wages, or capital equipment purchase

Any other ‘fine print’?
Applications will not be accepted for existing, ongoing projects already in progress
Funds cannot be used to pay or reimburse for expenses of a previous project or activity

How does the approval process work?
Applications are reviewed on a monthly basis (after the last day of each month)
All applicants are notified within 60 days regardless of approval status
Review Team may approve the full amount requested, partial amount, or not approve

If approved, how are funds distributed?
Approved applicants will receive funding within 60 (or less) from application date
W9 (IRS form) is required for processing check (if approved, ONS will provide a blank W9 form to the applicant to be completed and returned to ONS)

If approved, what’s expected of me?
Funds must be utilized within the timeframe identified for the project
Unused funds must be returned to ONS
A full summary report is required within 30 days of the completion of the project
