There are 4 steps to the water cycle
There are 4 steps to the water cycle. Lets discuss the 4 steps together…

Here is a song to help you to remember the process http://youtu
Here is a song to help you to remember the process Words to the song provided below; Evaporation, condensation, precipitation on my mind, this is only the water cycle and it happens all the time (chorus). Condensation, condensation makes the clouds in the sky, They cool the water vapor as you see them fly by. (Chorus) Evaporation is the heating of water in the world, water changes to a gas and it rises in the air. (Chorus) Precipitation rain, snow, sleet or hail, it comes from the sky and falls to the ground. (chorus)

Evaporation occurs when the sun heats up water found in rivers and lakes. The water is then turning into steam or vapor that will then float in to the air… Experiment Measure 32 oz. of water and pour into a pot Notice the time it takes for the water to boil After the water has boiled for 5 minutes, let the water cool Pout the water back in to the measuring cup How many oz. of water is there in the measuring cup? This is an example of how evaporation works.
5
Condensation occurs when water vapor from the air eventually gets cold then it changes back into the form of liquid then forming clouds… Experiment Walk as a group to the school freezer On the count of three everyone is to exhale What happens when we exhale? We see our breath The air that leaves our lungs is much warmer then the air which causes the water vapors to condense in to a small mist
6
Precipitation occurs when so much has condensed that the air can no longer hold anymore. The clouds get too heavy which causes the rain, snow, sleet or hail to fall down to earth. Click on the link to play a game.

The importance of the collection phase
The precipitation can be used as ground water as survival for our plants and animals. The other water is absorbed into the soil of oceans lakes, and rivers. This water cycle then starts all over… The last phase of the water cycle is the collection. This is when water falls back to earth as precipitation.

The water cycle is important for life on earth, it is the process that re-circulates water so we can have bodies of water as well as clouds and precipitation. Let’s read a story together to learn more about why the water cycle is important to us…clink on the link below to begin.
