7.7.4 Quadrilaterals
2
Vocabulary Quad = Four Lateral = Side
Quadrilateral = Shape with four sides
3
Quadrilaterals Quadrilateral Trapezoid Parallelogram Kite

Quadrilaterals Quadrilateral – Shape with four sides
Kite - Quadrilateral with two pairs of congruent adjacent sides and opposite sides that are not congruent Trapezoid - Quadrilateral with one pair of parallel side Parallelogram - Quadrilateral with opposite sides that are parallel and congruent
5
Parallelograms Parallelogram Rectangle Rhombus Square
6
Parallelograms Rhombus - Parallelogram with four congruent sides
Square - Parallelogram with four equal sides and four right angles Rectangle - Parallelogram with four right angles
7
Quadrilateral Four-sided shape
8
Kite Quadrilateral with two pairs of congruent adjacent sides and opposite sides that are not congruent
9
Trapezoid Quadrilateral with one pair of parallel sides
10
Parallelogram Quadrilateral with opposite sides that are parallel and congruent
11
Rhombus Parallelogram with four congruent sides
12
Square Parallelogram with four equal sides and four right angles

Classify the Quadrilateral
Quadrilateral – Shape with four sides Kite - Quadrilateral with two pairs of congruent adjacent sides and opposite sides that are not congruent Trapezoid - Quadrilateral with one pair of parallel side Parallelogram - Quadrilateral with opposite sides that are parallel and congruent Rhombus - Parallelogram with four congruent sides Square - Parallelogram with four equal sides and four right angles Rectangle - Parallelogram with four right angles

Quadrilateral Angle Measurements
NOTE: the 360° total of a quadrilateral makes sense: two triangles (angle total of 180°) placed next to each other make a quadrilateral. The four angles of ANY quadrilateral add up to be 360 degrees.
